One of the greatest perks of being an actor in Los Angeles is the ability to immerse myself in real-world experiences that enrich my performances. Every role I take on gives me the chance to add new skills to my actor’s toolkit—and recently, that meant gearing up for tactical weapons training.
You know that moment when you’re watching a military drama or action film, and something just feels… off? Like when the actor fumbles with a weapon or lacks confidence in a combat scene? I never want to be that distraction. That’s why I enrolled in a weapons workshop for actors, led by the incredible Kyle R. Fuller, a seasoned actor and U.S. military veteran, at VAS Studio in Los Angeles.
Although we trained with airsoft rifles, Kyle emphasized real-world gun safety protocols from the very beginning. Whether it’s on set or at a firing range, the mindset is the same: respect the weapon. After donning tactical vests and reviewing fundamentals, we jumped into hands-on training.
Kyle broke everything down—stance, loading mechanics, handling accessories, and realistic movement while in character. It wasn’t just about looking the part—it was about moving like someone who’s been trained in high-stakes scenarios. We practiced clearing hallways, coordinating door entries, and eliminating on-screen threats—just like an elite team would in real life.
What elevated the training was learning how to communicate silently using non-verbal commands—a vital skill in both real-life tactical work and for creating believable performances in film and television. These subtle gestures brought the scenes to life in ways that words never could.
As an actress in Los Angeles, I’m constantly pushing myself to learn, grow, and elevate my craft. Whether it’s emotional depth or physical precision, every new experience adds a layer of authenticity to my work.
Why It Matters
For me, training like this is more than just preparation—it’s passion. As a Los Angeles-based actor focused on film, television, and commercial roles, I believe the best performances come from truth, detail, and discipline. This kind of immersive skill-building ensures I show up on set ready to deliver.
If you’re a filmmaker, casting director, or fellow actor looking for someone with real tactical training, range experience, and an unshakable commitment to authenticity, let’s connect.
